In his book, Rich Habits — The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals, Tom Corley outlines several habits that distinguish the wealthy from the nonwealthy.

It got me to think, How many people operate on autopilot and don’t stop to monitor their everyday patterns? Below I’ve summarized 19 of his habits for success (nine culled from his book and the next 10 from his recent article in Success) plus two of my own. If you’re not actively engaged in these 21 things, you are, in effect, leaving money on the table.

1. Setting good daily habits.

Good habits are the foundation of wealth building. The difference between successful and unsuccessful people lies in their daily habits. Simply put, successful people have many good habits and few bad ones. If you understand that your bad habits may be preventing you from becoming wealthy, that realization will be the first step in your improving your circumstances.

In his book, Corley invites you to take out a sheet of paper and list your bad habits in one column and then invert each one to place under a new column for good habits. It should look like this:

I watch too much TV. I limit myself to one hour of TV per day.

I don’t remember names. I write down names and remember them.

Then for 30 days, follow the guidance of your new good habits list. You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish.

2. Regularly creating goals.

Successful people are goal driven. They create goals all the time. They plan their day the night before with to-do lists.

People who are headed for success think for the long term. They have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. But what’s a goal without a plan to reach them? So not only do successful people have goals, they also come up with ways to achieve them and hold themselves accountable.

3. Engaging in self-improvement daily.

Successful people are always looking for ways to improve themselves. They read every day and are students of their profession. They don’t spend their time on activities that don’t bring them closer to their goals.

I recently attended an event hosted by author Brendon Burchard, who said he consistently blocks out time to create. Successful people like Burchard know that time is too valuable a commodity to waste. They spend their time on the things that will move the needle for them in their business: Being committed to self-improvement means you engage in activities every day that will stretch you.

Seek ways to expand your knowledge. This won’t always be easy, but people grow from things that pose a challenge. Once your knowledge grows, opportunities appear.

4. Regularly taking care of personal health.

 Each and every day successful people make an effort to eat right and exercise. Eating right is of utmost importance. Exercising daily can become a regular habit, just like taking a bath. People who exercise routinely have more energy to get things done. How are you doing in this area?

5. Often making time for relationship building.

People who are successful are other-people focused. They take time out of their day to strengthen the bonds of friendship and form long-lasting relationships with others. Networking is something they do all the time. They reach out to their contacts and look for ways to help them with no expectation of in return.

The most beautiful sound on Earth, I once heard someone say, is your name. So make it a goal to learn the names of every contact you meet. Aren’t you impressed when someone remembers your name? I know I am. So stand out as different and start remembering names.

6. Doing things in moderation.

You live in a balanced way if you do activities in moderation. This means having a balanced approach to work, eating, exercise, consuming alcohol, watching television, surfing the Internet and so forth. As a result, people will enjoy your company. If people like being around you, then you will be more apt to collaborate or find the new business partner that you need to take your business to the next level.

7. Getting things done.

Don’t put off to tomorrow what you can do today: Accomplish things. All people have fears, but successful people push past them. They don’t procrastinate. They get the important things done, no matter the cost.

In Rich Habits, Corley explains that when the thought of putting off something enters the mind, immediately shed notion by saying, “Do it now.” He says repeat these words 100 times if necessary. Just don’t stop till the task is done.

8. Keeping a positive outlook.

Consider the most successful person you know. Is that person positive or negative? Most likely this individual is positive, enthusiastic, energetic and happy. This person chooses to see the good in others and in himself or herself. To this person, problems are just opportunities waiting to be uncovered.

Every day people are bombarded by news of bad deeds and doings. Successful people minimize their exposure to this type of thing and instead opt to fill their minds with positive ideas from books and magazines.

9. Regularly saving money.

According to Corley, successful individuals put away about 10 percent to 20 percent of their gross earnings in a savings, investment or retirement plan. Not everyone can afford to do so, but what percent are you putting away?

10. Rejecting self-limiting thoughts.

Successful people command their thoughts and emotions. As soon as bad thoughts intrude, they cast out anything that challenges their ability to succeed at the task at hand. They do not dwell on negative notions. Their self-talk is positive and not overly critical. They replace bad thoughts with good ones.

Because successful people engage in self-improvement daily and are constantly involved in positive things, they don’t allow themselves time to indulge in negative emotions.

11. Living within means.

Wealthy people avoid overspending. Among many of those struggling financially, some are living above their means. They spend more than they earn, live from paycheck to paycheck and are drowning in credit-card debt. If this is you, resolve today to turn things around for you and your family.

12. Reading daily.

Many successful people read 30 minutes or more every day. Reading can increase your knowledge and know-how. When you read, often you are seeking to improve yourself. This automatically sets you apart from your counterparts. You will stand out from the competition.

13. Limiting TV watching.

Did you know that many successful people limit the amount their TV time to one hour or less a day? How much time do you lose in front of the television that you could be spending doing something more productive?

14. Doing more than what’s required.

Successful people regularly go above and beyond the call of duty at work. Even if something is not in their job description, they will volunteer to do it. Wealthy people make themselves invaluable. As an entrepreneur, you may not have a boss. But in what ways do you go above and beyond for your clients? How do you wow them?

15. Talking less and listening more.

When you listen, you learn. And as the adage goes, that’s why people have two ears and one mouth. When you take the time to really pay attention to what another person is saying, it can truly help not only you but your bottom line as well. When you listen, you are in a better position to help others.

16. Not giving up.

Don’t give up when the going gets tough. Successful people hang in there. They pivot. They try something new. They persist. They may have to change their direction, but they keep moving forward.

17. Spending time with like-minded ones.

There’s a saying that goes, “Show me who your friends are and I’ll show you who you are.” I believe that. People are only as successful as those they choose to surround themselves with. Good associations can help you more quickly achieve your goals.

18. Finding a mentor.

Many people who have had a mentor have attributed their success to that person. Mentors can help you achieve your goals faster and keep you accountable. They can share valuable experience that can cut your learning time in half.

19. Knowing your why.

When you know why you’re doing something, you will get what you want quicker than if you don’t. Having a purpose is essential to being successful in business and in life. Why do you want to be successful? Why do you really want to be wealthy?

20. Not giving fear the upper hand.

Everyone has fears. Successful people don’t allow their fears to limit or define them. Fear inevitably keeps you in the same position and stunts your growth. Recognize your fears and seek ways to overcome them. Interview someone you admire and ask that person how he or she overcame a fear or pick up an autobiography and take notes.

21. Upgrading skills.

If you want to get ahead, there’s only one way to do it: Become better at something than you are today. What’s the one thing you can focus on for the next 30 days that will catapult you to rock-star status in your industry? Focus your attention on that. I heard John Lee Dumas from Entrepreneur on Fire define “FOCUS” like this: Follow one course until success. Will you?

How to Write a Blog for Your Online Store… in 5 Easy Steps

Step 1: Create a List of Topics Your Customers Want to Know More About

Start by first making a list of all the possible topics your customers want to know more about.

If you sell t-shirts, for example, they may love to know more about fashion trends, how to wear t-shirts to work and get away with it, how to add a custom feel to a mass produced t-shirt and so on.

If you make handmade jewelry, customers may want to know about accessorizing tips, how to care for jewelry, how to wear jewelry without going over the top, and so on.

You get the picture, right?

Sometimes, the questions your customers may have or want answers to would have nothing to do with your core business. They would be related to what you do.

How do you find out what questions your customers have? 

  • Study the emails you get and identify common questions in them.
  • Hang around in forums, groups and on blogs where your ideal customer is. Listen {in a non-stalkerish!} way to their conversations. What are they asking about?
  • Survey your customers. Yes, send them out and email asking them what are some of their frustrations with {insert name of niche} and what would they like to know more about it.

Once you have this list of questions, it’s just a matter of creating topics from them and putting them into an editorial calendar.

You don’t need anything fancy. An excel sheet with dates and days can be enough. The idea behind this is for your to plugin your topics on a regular schedule so you can batch writing your posts and stay ahead of the curve.

Say, you come with only 12 topics. Don’t worry. At 1 post a week, you’ll have enough content for 3 months. See?

Step 2: Write Your Post

The next step is writing your post. I recommend batch writing your posts. As online store owners, we have a lot on our plate. Fitting in 10 minutes here or 20 minutes there to write a few sentences for your post doesn’t make any sense.

It’s more productive if you schedule say an hour, every Tuesday to write. Block off distractions.

Shut down Facebook and Pinterest. And just open your editorial calendar, check out the topic… and write.

Step 3: Optimize it for Search Engines

Now that you know how to write a blog, your next step is to optimize it for search engines.

While a well-written post will be awesome for your readers, you do want it to be found by search engines too, right? That will ensure that your content gets picked up by targeted customers easily!

How can you get started with optimizing your content? What tools do you need? Would you need to fork out hundreds of dollars for them?

I know. I can hear those questions whirling around in your head.

Step 4: Drive Traffic to the Post

Now that you’ve published your post, you need to drive traffic to it. Luckily, you can automate this part, too.

Next, copy the first half of the post, plug it into your email marketing system, personalize it, add a subject line and whiz it away to your list.

Step 5: Rinse-and-Repeat

The final step is to rinse-and-repeat the 4 steps above. Before you know it, you’ll be blogging like a pro and enjoying the attention that your blog is getting and best of all, the sales that it’s driving up.

Good Day Awesome, Amazing and Phenomenal Women Entrepreneurs,

I pray all is well with each one of you. My wish is that you are enjoying 2019. I also hope that you are implementing your own unique and brilliant ideas into the very core and the foundation of your businesses.

I wanted to share with you some of the things that have been going on with GVWE since the start of the new year.

First, let me tell you that someone is always trying their best to hack into what I am doing. As I attempted to log into the pages of GVWE, I couldn’t. I said to myself, as I always blame myself when I am unable to do or figure out things, what have I done wrong. Why can’t I log into my website. When I was finally able to access GVWE, I noticed a different name where my login details normally have my username. I logged out just to see if I’d be able to jump right back in, but of course, it wasn’t that easy.

So I prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to help guide me and He did just that. I went back in and changed all of my details.

Secondly, I am in the midst of preparing for Valentine’s Day. And the reason I am sharing this with you is to say this; if you have a product and you know it is the perfect product for making money for Valentine’s Day then I want you to start taking the necessary steps to achieving your financial goals in this one and done gifting season.

Decree and declare that this will be the year that you make money. If you want to make lots of money from the beginning of the year until the end of the year, you can. Make a covenant with yourself to make as much money as you want without ever doubting, but always believing and receiving!

So let’s begin with Valentine’s Day.  If you have yet to make a dime thus far this year, now is the time for you to be start. With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, this is the perfect time to make this goal of making money your priority.

Okay, now if you have a product I want you to think about your product and how it can change a life or help someone to solve a problem. These are the flyers that I designed for Christmas for my Beauty and the Face Gift Box Beautee. They helped me to bring in great sales and my numbers were simply amazing. I also used word of mouth marketing. You can never go wrong with word of mouth marketing.

I offered various price ranges for my gift boxes. I started at $50 with $50 being the least expensive all the way up to $125 which was the most expensive gift box. In those prices I included my shipping and handling because I was grateful for the orders. I think if you offer something free to your potential customers you will retain them.  Now, when I say offer something free, it can’t be junk. When I say junk, what I mean is your freebie has to be something that has great value for your customer. It has to be high quality. This makes all the difference in the world in your business.


My Gift Boxes

A free gift can be something really nice from Macy’s. A big tip is this; if you can find something relevant to your product on sale at The Hallmark Store, Macy’s or even Boscov’s or perhaps Home Goods. You know all of these stores have nice products and usually of good quality.

You might add something like a mug, a really nice latte mug filled with chocolates or mints and beautifully wrapped with clear cellophane and a lovely red ribbon around it.  The possibilities are endless and with your great mind, you’ll be selling out of your products before noon Valentine’s Day or even before the love day arrives!

Look around you and be inspired at the things in your home, office or even outside in God’s majestic works. In no time at all, you’ll be on track to exceeding your Valentine’s Day sales this year and then we can focus on making $7,000 for Mother’s Day.

Here are a few of my designs from my Zazzle store.  Right now I have a balance of $7.36 in my account.  I had a lot more, but I let someone go in and use the money because she was having a Sickle Cell event and I allowed her to use my earnings to order the mugs and buttons that I designed for her special event.

You can make a lot of money on Zazzle and CafePress, but it does take a whole lot of time and effort.  I have sold tee shirts and mugs mostly, but I haven’t really focused on my store too much this year because of my body butter business.  I plan to relaunch my store before the year is out.  I highly recommend opening a Zazzle store, but also know that when you sell items on Zazzle, they of course, get most of the percentage, leaving you with pennies, but if you sell a lot of items, it’s well worth it.  It does take time as I stated earlier.

I’ll Say It Again Revised

Hello Women of Excellence,

Do you see the women in the photos smiling? It’s because they recognize the important fact that business is more just business. Read on to see exactly the point I am trying to make.

Business is business. I am constantly being reminded of it whenever I sell a product, but there is so much more to business than business.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned as an empire owner is that most people have taken most, if not all of the emotion when conducting business. There is absolutely no emotion attached to business tradings, dealings and transactions. Well, except for me and I hope you feel the same. Listen, if we were to take all of the emotion out of our daily business practices I don’t think we would be in business for long. Business is strictly business for most, but is this really a smart way or the right way to run a business.

 I think it’s extremely important that we keep some emotion in our daily business transactions.  What I mean is this; when I hand make a body butter gift set for a new customer I make sure that I pour a lot of love into my gift box creations.  It is important that I place in each box that I lovingly designed the highest quality products that I can find because I want to give my customers the very best gift items that I can possibly give. This is important because I want my customers to be happy and satisfied with their purchase.  For me, presentation is everything.

Now just think, if I were to take all of the emotion out of my daily business goals I would find myself cutting corners and I probably wouldn’t take so much time crafting such beautiful gift boxes.  I enjoy what I do and it is my hope that it shows in each and every one of my presentations.  For me, producing great themed gift boxes is my passion and I want that passion to shine through the nano second my customers’ eyes open their elegantly designed gift box. I don’t ever want to cut corners when it comes to giving my customers the very best.

I think it’s safe to say that we as God’s Virtuous Women Entrepreneurs, love to produce and give life changing lasting substance that has great potential and could possibly change someone’s life. Also, if I removed all emotion from my business I don’t think I would enjoy the success that comes from being that brilliant business woman who knows how to give! I wouldn’t be able to define success and if I couldn’t define success (in every aspect and area of my life and business) what good would I be to my customers, potential customers or myself. I would just be another business owner focused on making lots of money.  Now, please don’t get me wrong; I am sure that there are a lot of successful businesses owners who make tons of money, but I think the focus is just that money.  I think it’s important that we put our customers’ needs first and then the money will just flow right into our hands.  So, let’s not make money our focus.  Instead, let’s think about how we can change lives through our services and products.  It is imperative that we think about others.  When we do this, our business will soar like never before. Business needs to be more than just business.

Welcome July

A New Season

Good Day God’s Virtuous Women Entrepreneurs,

How are all of you phenomenally brilliant women business owners doing these days.

It’s July already and I am really excited about this new season.

In this new season, I’ve decided that it’s time to embark on something new, but new should always pertain and be relevant to your existing businesses.  I say this to say, because new opportunities are always being presented to me and I used to think that that meant it’s time to start a new business, but I learned as I went along that when new ideas come to me or are gifted to me that have the great potential to make more money, and yes, we all love to make money, it doesn’t mean that I throw up a new website or start something altogether different from the businesses on which I already built, am currently building or trying to build up. 

Okay, let’s get right down to business and setup even greater success in this new season for our businesses.

I am presently working on a few minor business details using my favorite platform on which I use to build most of my websites; WordPress.  

I’m not sure if any of you use WordPress for your website(s), but if you don’t maybe you should consider switching over to this rich CMS.  It has a steep learning curve, but once you understand how it works I think it will serve you well and you’ll be happy with the results when you see how much you can do with it and all that it offers. It has a ton of plugins to help you to do whatever your goals are in terms of building your website.

Anyway, today I’ll be working on a few of my businesses and setting them up for the upcoming Christmas season. I know you may be thinking I’m crazy for mentioning Christmas, but trust me when I tell you, it will be here before you know it.  I am a preparer and a planner which is why I am able to get things done in a timely as well as a professional manner.  I keep my customers on my mind because I have to help people.  I just do.

And so it is that I have to tell you that I have a new collection I’ll be launching for the Christmas Season for my body butters and I am thrilled to see it all come to fruition. I have been working nonstop because you know as I always say marketing and technology changes every second we breathe, but I do what I know what’s best for me and my businesses and it all works for me and it all flows so perfectly. 

I believe if you have a product or perhaps offer a service and you implement your own unique and brilliant ideas into your business success will follow wherever you go.  You just have to know that you have something others need.  

You have to believe that your product is the one product that stands out from the competition because you created it using your creativity in such a great way that it has the powerful potential to change a life.

If you offer a service or you have designed a product out of a need here’s how you can market your services for life-changing success for you and others:

Write great content.

Example: Let’s say you make glittery glassware and in the midst of you designing your specialized glassware you have discovered that there are a lot of women and even some men that are doing the same thing.  Here’s how you take your glittery glassware business to the next level setting it up in a class all by itself.  You write remarkable content.  You tell an attention-grabbing, attention-keeping content that tells your personalized story about how and why you started your business designing beautiful wineglasses, glassware or whatever you want to call it. You are going to tell your audience about how you made the discovery and how it can change their lives.  Maybe they are searching for that one-of-a-kind gift that they simply cannot find in stores. Tell them how you are going to send them their glassware and how long it will take for them to receive it.

Create Life-Loving Value for Others

This is where you get to share your own wealth. 

When you create transformational and life-loving value for others, you not only change their life, but you change your own life.  

I cannot stress enough the wealth that is in you.  When you take that wealth and you use it to build your empire, but create value for others and prosperity for yourself. 

Creating value for others is empowering and enriching. It gives you the chance to share your gifts and abilities with the world.  This is how your money flows directly to you.  You take inspired action by creating value for those who trust and look to you to help change their lives permanently. When you do this you will see the value that has the potential to make you even wealthier than ever.  

Now, sit down and pen your plans to paper to create even more value for your customers as well as for yourself.  You’ll instantly see and feel the amazing and awesome power that is in you.  Get excited and keep your energy level to a temperature that is as high as the heat and humidity are during the Summer Season of 2018!
