Doing a refresh on my brand and business is highly important. Here’s why.
Last month (April 2021) I was on my state’s website to check on m fictitious name. I do this once a month because I want to make sure my business details are up-to-date.
Well, I learned a valuable lesson as I went exploring my business’ name.
The EIN that was given to me did not match the number that what was on file with my state.
I found a phone number for the revenue department and called to see what was going on. The very nice representative told me that my business’ name was inactive. I could not believe what I was hearing. She told me that someone had shut down my business back in 2019. I was in shock hearing this.
I then asked her what I needed to do to reinstate my business and its’ name.
She walked me through the process patiently, carefully and slowly. Talk about one being so highly grateful.
By the end of our conversation, I had a clearer understanding of why my EIN was not found in the database on my state’s website.

As female entrepreneurs, we have to make sure that we have everything we need to keep our businesses afloat. I am elated, to say the least, that I decided to do a fictitious name search.
I would suggest that you do the same for your business.
In this new season in the month of May, we have goals that we need to achieve. Small businesses have to be on point at all times because at the blink an eye it can just disappear and you may never know why or what happened.
May is a great time to refresh and start over again. Starting over can be a really good thing.
Take your time to rewrite and do whatever else is necessary to ensure that your business continues to thrive no matter what
I’m writing new notes, creating and designing more relevant pieces for my website. In June, I will jump start and relaunch once again. It is so well worth the time that you pour into your business.
